This course will introduce the fundamentals of writing with a broad edge calligraphy pen. Uncial calligraphy is from Ireland and found in many historical manuscripts, including the Book of Kells and Lindisfarne Gospels. This beautiful, circular lettering is an excellent opportunity to develop basic lettering skills and gain control over the broad edge pen. We will progress through three pen sizes. Students will write with a metal nib, ink and gouache, create a finished calligraphy piece and a book that highlights the techniques learned in class. This is an excellent class for adults and youth who wish to learn calligraphy. Details
